Supreme Court issues contempt notice to Mamata Banerjee over WB teacher scam remarks
Defamatory posters targeting South Kolkata BJP President Anupam Bhattacharya were spotted at Rabindra Nagar bus stand near his residence a few days ago. The posters had black ink smeared over his face, sparking controversy in the area.
Last night, banners depicting Bhattacharya with a garland of shoes were placed beneath BJP’s Ram Navami celebration hoardings at the 14-number bus stand on Diamond Harbour Road and the Blind School bus stand. Similar banners were also pasted on both sides of the entrance of the Behala BJP party office, carrying various captions.
BJP leaders have condemned the act, alleging political motives, while authorities have yet to comment on any action. The banners have intensified tensions, with BJP supporters demanding an investigation. No statement has been issued by opposition leaders regarding the incident.
